You’ll need to accurately measure your window to ensure your aluminium Venetian blinds fit perfectly.

First, decide if you’d like your blinds to sit inside the window frame (called a recess, which is the space within the window opening) or outside the frame (to fully cover the window and block more light).

For an inside mount, measure the width and height of the window recess in three different spots. For example, measure the top, middle, and bottom for width, and the left, center, and right for height. Use the smallest measurements to make sure the blind fits neatly inside.

For an outside mount, simply measure how wide and tall you want the blind to be—remember to allow a little extra on each side for full coverage.

Aluminium Venetian blinds are moisture resistant, which makes them easy to clean and maintain.

For regular cleaning:

• Dust the slats with a microfiber cloth, feather duster, or vacuum with a soft brush attachment.
• You can also use compressed air or a hairdryer (on a cool setting) to blow away dust.
• Always tilt the slats fully in one direction to clean, then reverse and repeat on the other side.

For a deeper clean:

• Wipe each slat with a damp cloth and mild soap, or use an over-the-counter blind cleaner.
• You can also soak the blinds in warm water and detergent, but only if they do not have heritage tape.

If your blinds have heritage tape, spot-clean them carefully with a fabric-safe cloth, supporting the back of the tape to avoid marks.

Tip: Monthly cleaning prevents buildup and keeps your aluminium blinds looking polished and fresh.

Many common issues with aluminium Venetian blinds can be fixed at home with a few simple steps.

• Slats not tilting properly: Check the tilt wand or cord mechanism—if it’s jammed, gently realign or replace the tilt mechanism.
• Blinds not lifting or lowering: Make sure the cord lock is released. If the lift cord is frayed or tangled, it may need to be replaced.
• Bent slats: Gently straighten minor bends by hand or with a pair of smooth-edged pliers. For badly damaged slats, replacements are available.
• Loose brackets: Tighten the screws or replace wall plugs if the brackets have come loose from the wall or window frame.
